The new Custom Line 124 project offers a new design approach to the Custom Line range including a “terrace” over the sea.

April 2009 – The new Ferretti Custom Line 124’ design, expertly created by Architect Gianni Zuccon – Studio Zuccon International Project, together with Ferretti’s AYT – Advanced Yacht Technology, marks a new chapter in the yard’s history.  Ferretti is broadening its horizons while remaining faithful to tradition, with the design of its new planing flagship.

The Ferretti Custom Line 124’ combines the yard’s design and construction experience with a forward-looking philosophy underpinning a harmonious blend of elegance, performance and solutions that are strikingly innovative for craft of this size.

Her exterior displays the light, sleek and elegant lines so typical of Ferretti Custom Line maxi-yachts, an effect created by an extensive sweep of windows – significantly enlarged – using an innovation that is both aesthetic and functional: large glazed side doors in the saloon and fold-down platforms create exclusive terraces above the sea. Following the yard’s traditions, all the non-structural elements of the interiors can be personalised, and embody a completely renewed contemporary style emphasising precious materials, high-quality woods, beautiful marble and prized fabrics, and leathers, to combine in an innovative mix that reflects the owner’s personal tastes.

This new 124’ offers exceptionally generous spaces, like the cockpit and its large teak table seating 10-12 guests. The salon measures over 50 sq.m. and the absence of supports means there is an uninterrupted view from stem to stern. Light dominates the interiors, flooding in through wide windows and the large glazed side doors, which enhance the internal feeling, creating the impression of unity between interior and exterior. The doors can be fixed or allowed to open, depending on the layout chosen by the owner and look onto the main deck walkway, the location on both sides of the electro-hydraulically operated fold-down platforms that form fully-fledged terraces, providing a unique and exclusive sea view.

Two layouts are available, offering different configurations for the salon living area, depending on whether or not the glass doors are fixed. The first includes two spacious sofas in a double “L” shape, each with coffee table, leaving a central walkway to access the opening side glass doors. The second option has three sofas arranged in a horseshoe shape with a low table in the centre. Both options include a 52” pop-up TV to starboard. The space leads into the dining room with a large square table seating 10-12, made in the owner’s choice of wood.

The galley is located amidships and is equipped with professional-standard appliances. It also provides access to the craft’s crew areas.

The Owner’s stateroom lies forward on the main deck, a very bright space – again thanks to the wide broadside windows – is divided into a working zone with private head and sleeping area, plus a generous bathroom forward with separate heads and double shower. The dominant theme here will be shaped by the materials chosen by the owner.

There are four guest cabins on the lower deck – two VIP cabins aft with double bed and two twin cabins further forward, all with private bathrooms offering separate showers, lit by the extraordinary through-hull windows.

The upper deck of the 124’ is a stylish display of yet more craftsmanship, offering a new type of lounge area – a zone that is dedicated to relaxation and whose interior and exterior spaces are designed with outstanding attention to detail.

The scenic upper saloon provides an area that exploits the whole width of the yacht, offering a space with spherical windows where it’s possible to experience the sea from a privileged, yet private, position – a roomy conversation and entertainment area with sofas, armchairs and TV. The glass doors access the exterior fly bridge, where there is a dining table seating 10-12 with a fully-equipped grill area, sheltered from the sun by the flying bridge structure.  Further aft is a Jacuzzi with seating all around and large sunpads for more relaxation. A tender can be stowed on the stern, with crane for ease of diployment. Further forward the upper lounge leads into the bridge with divan and chart area.

There is are auxiliary command consoles on the flying bridge to facilitate manoeuvres, and a sunbathing area with generous sunpad further forward.

The flying bridge is one of a number of spaces dedicated to open-air relaxation. The deckhouse forward features a large sunpad – covering a locker – and there is a relaxation area on the forward main deck with a divan, allowing huests to enjoy the sunshine in private when the yacht is moored in port. The bow garage can host a small service tender.

Functional solutions have also been used in the crew area layout on the lower decks, with a large galley and dinette and a spacious laundry/storage area. The skipper has a cabin with desk, and crew quarters also include a hostess cabin and, further forward, two twin cabins with bunk beds. All crew cabins have private bathrooom with separate showers.

The Custom Line 124’ is equipped with excellent engines that guarantee high performance – two MTU 3184 or 3510 units. Latest generation solutions are also evident in instrumentation and on-board comfort, like the Furla.Net ship monitoring and control system or the four Mitsubishi ARG (Anti-Rolling Gyros) exclusively installed for the world market on many Ferretti Group fleet, capable of reducing roll by up to 50%.
