Rivas are not just boats, they are the epitome of seagoing glamour. It’s been said that if God had been a boat designer, a Riva is what he would have come up with.

Back in the 1950s and ’60s every superyacht worth its salt had a gleaming mahogany Riva speedboat hanging from its davits – like a shimmering jewel clinging to the bodice of a beloved mistress. Today, the yachts are bigger and more magnificent than ever. And so too are the Rivas. For over a decade there was nothing to match Riva’s legendary masterpiece, the Aquarama. And then Riva came up with the Aquariva Super.

The Aquariva Super is Riva’s 21st century reinterpretation of the Aquarama. With her gleaming mahogany decks, gloriously sexy lines, and that sweeping, unmistakable tumble tumblehome at the stern, she exhibits all the glamour and classic beauty of her illustrious home forebear. The craftsmanship that goes into her pristine finish is as exceptional as ever.

That glorious deck takes two months to varnish, with a minimum of fifteen coats. Her polished fittings are as near to works of art as you’re ever likely to see on a boat. Under the hood (or under the sunbed to be precise) the Aquariva Super is powered by two 380hp diesels. Unusually, for a boat, these drive through two-speed automatic gearboxes, an inspired arrangement that delivers an impressive and rare combination of sparkling acceleration as well as economical cruising and a top speed of 42 knots.

Riva has been a symbol of ultimate glamour and style for more than half a century. Beloved of celebrities, film stars, playboys and princes, anyone who’s ever been anyone in the Côte d’Azur jet-set has either owned a Riva, or wouldn’t be seen afloat in anything else. The list of Riva owners over the years reads like a who’s who of the rich, the famous and the powerful – Burton and Taylor, Bardot, Loren and Prince Rainier to name just a few.

In the Aquarama, Riva had a boating icon that was never seriously challenged. In the Aquariva Super, they have a new star that is well on its way to joining that highly select band of powerboating legends.

RCD classifications: With the exception of the Riva Aquariva [RCD category ‘B’] every boat from the Ferretti Group under 24m – which includes Ferretti, Pershing, Riva, Mochi, Itama and Bertram – is certified as RCD category ‘A’.

The RCD design and construction regulations require that boats meet specified standards for Structure, Stability, Buoyancy, Openings [in hull, deck and superstructure] and Flooding when carrying a specified Load.

CATEGORY ‘A’ [OCEAN]: boats are approved for use where conditions may exceed wind force 8, with wave heights over 4m.
